Alliance Bank Stadium: New York
Alliance Bank Stadium
Alliance Bank Stadium (formerly P&C Stadium) is a 12,000-seat baseball stadium in Syracuse, New York. It was opened on 10 April 1997, has artificial turf, and its dimensions are 330L, 400C, 330R.
It is used by the Syracuse SkyChiefs baseball team. Its parent organization, the Toronto Blue Jays is the main reason why the stadium has artificial turf, the reason being the Blue Jays wish to accustom their prospects to the same kind of playing surface as their home stadium, Rogers Centre in Toronto. However, Rogers Centre now uses a type of Fieldturf, which more closely resembles real grass than Astroturf did. It is likely that Alliance Bank Stadium will also be upgraded to FieldTurf in the near future.
Until 2005, it was known as P&C Stadium, which came from the regional brand of supermarkets run by Syracuse-based Penn Traffic Corporation. In September, 2004 Penn Traffic was released from their naming rights contract due to their bankruptcy. Alliance Bank is a regional bank headquartered in Syracuse.
