The late publisher Malcom Forbes was a tireles collector, acquiring everything from toy soldiers to fabulously orante Faberge Easter eggs and historical documents. His treasures are well represented in this jewel of a museum, located in Greenwich Village which is the headquarters for “Forbes” magazine. There are also changing exhibtions of paintings, photographs and other works of art.
Families
Many of the exhibits at the Forbes Galleries are appropraite for families. Kids and adults alike will be enthralled by the galleries’ collection of more than 500 toy boats as well as its array of 10,000 toy figures, including soldiers, knights, cowboys, Indians and marching bands. in an exhibit involving mirrors, each visotr can magically become the boy surrounded by his toys from Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem “The Land of Counterpane.”

Schools and Other Groups
Thursdays are reserved exclusively for guided tours. A curator leads groups on a one-hour tour of all collections on display. Of particular interest to school groups are the two galleries exhibting American historical documents, rare presidential manuscripts and related memorabillia, such as Abraham Lincoln’s top hat.
